As a result, through this module, students will understand how a harmonious balance can be attained between using natural resources and tourism on one hand, and fulfilling wider economic and social objectives on the other.
Tourism, Society and Culture
The purpose of this module is to create a platform to discuss local and international issues to find other insights about the effectiveness tourism and the travel industry has on our society and on ourselves. It also provides a more holistic and thorough knowledge of the role and functions of tourism.
This unit gives an overview of the ways the creative authority and power of tourism that has an impact on people’s past and present. Furthermore, a review of how the role of tourism has changed in the representation of the public culture, the public heritage, and the public nature of places new interpretive climate of the so-called ‘postmodern’, ‘post-industrial’, and ‘post-colonial’ mood(s) is also covered in this unit.
Business Dissertation
This module is equipped with suitable knowledge; skills and abilities that a manager requires in order to carry out a piece of small scale business/management research within the hospitality industry efficiently. A particular importance will be given to individuals looking to develop in their workplace based Masters dissertation/project. Specific issues faced by managers and researchers are given importance when carrying out research in an organisational setting.
